Author Guidelines

Global Islamic Research Journal (GIRJ)

The Global Islamic Research Journal (GIRJ) publishes original, high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies and related interdisciplinary fields. Submissions must demonstrate academic rigor, originality, ethical integrity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

GIRJ accepts manuscripts written in English and Arabic. Authors are strongly advised to use the official GIRJ article template and to ensure full compliance with the guidelines below before submission.

1. Article Title

  • The title must use Capital Letters at the Beginning of Each Word (excluding conjunctions and prepositions).

  • Font: Calisto MT, 20 pt, bold, centered.

  • Maximum length: 15 words.

  • The title must clearly reflect the focus and contribution of the manuscript.

2. Authors and Affiliations

  • Author names must be written without academic titles or degrees.

  • Authors should be listed as: First Author<sup>a</sup>, Second Author<sup>b</sup>, etc.

  • A maximum of 8 authors is permitted per manuscript.

  • Institutional affiliations must follow the superscript format (a, b, c).

  • ORCID iDs are mandatory for all authors.

  • One author must be designated as the corresponding author, using an institutional email address.

3. Abstract

  • Font: EB Garamond, 14 pt.

  • Maximum length: 250 words.

  • The abstract must be concise, factual, and free of citations.

  • It must include:

    • Research purpose

    • Research problem(s)

    • Methodology

    • Main findings

    • Conclusion

The abstract must accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

4. Keywords

  • Provide 3–5 keywords, separated by commas.

  • Keywords should reflect the central themes of the manuscript.

5. Introduction

  • Font: EB Garamond, 14 pt.

  • The introduction must engage with relevant and recent scholarly literature.

  • Authors must clearly explain:

    • Research background and significance

    • Gaps or limitations in previous studies

    • Original contribution and novelty

    • Research objectives

Citation Requirements

  • GIRJ uses APA Style (7th edition).

  • In-text citations must follow the author–date system.

  • Footnotes may be used only for explanatory notes, not for citations.

  • Authors must use at least 30 scholarly references, primarily from the last five years.

  • References must be managed using Mendeley.

Length Requirement

  • Minimum manuscript length: 4,000 words (excluding abstract and references).

6. Methodology

The Methodology section must clearly explain how the study was conducted or how the analysis was developed. Font: EB Garamond, 14 pt.

For Research Articles

  • Research design

  • Data sources

  • Data collection procedures

  • Data analysis techniques

  • Research context or location (if applicable)

For Review or Conceptual Articles

  • Scope of review or analysis

  • Theoretical or conceptual framework

  • Sources and materials examined

  • Limitations of the study

7. Results and Discussion

This section represents the core scholarly contribution of the manuscript and must:

  • Present findings in a logical and systematic manner

  • Interpret results in light of existing literature

  • Highlight originality, implications, and contributions

Formatting requirements:

  • Font: EB Garamond, 14 pt

  • Tables and figures must be centered and provided in 300 DPI resolution

  • Subheadings such as A. First Subsection, B. Second Subsection may be used

8. Conclusion

The conclusion must:

  • Directly answer the research objectives

  • Summarize key findings without repeating the abstract

  • Discuss theoretical, practical, or policy implications

  • Provide suggestions for future research

The conclusion must be written in paragraph form without numbering.

9. References

  • All references must follow APA Style (7th edition).

  • References must be generated using Mendeley.

  • Each reference must include a DOI or stable URL, where available.

Reference Requirements

  • Minimum 30 references.

  • At least 80% must be peer-reviewed journal articles.

  • Most references should be from the last five years.

  • All in-text citations must appear in the reference list and vice versa.

Legal and Religious Sources

  • Legal documents must include the issuing authority, year, official source, and URL.

  • Classical Islamic sources (e.g., Qur’an, Hadith, fiqh texts) must be cited consistently following APA guidelines and recognized academic conventions.

10. Declaration of Conflicting Interests

Authors must include the following statement:

“The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this article.”

11. About the Author(s)

Each author must provide a brief biography (maximum 150 words) including:

  • Current academic or professional position

  • Institutional affiliation

  • Research interests

  • Selected publications or achievements

  • Email address or ORCID link

12. Additional Notes

  • Manuscripts must not include page numbers.

  • Submissions must be made exclusively through the GIRJ OJS platform.

  • No submission or article processing charges (APCs) are applied.

  • Charges apply only for printed copies, if requested.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for intellectual property issues related to text, images, data, or software.
